ROBO Cylinder Controllers
‘ROBO Cylinder’ ® refers to an electromechanical system consisting of an electric actuator and a motion controller. Depending on the type of ROBO Cylinder, one of the following controllers may be used to control the actuator’s position, velocity, acceleration, deceleration, and motor torque.
ROBO Cylinder controller characteristics and capabilities are dependent upon the type of actuator selected, specifically the type of motor. RCP2 (ROBO Cylinder Pulse) actuators employ a ‘Pulse’ motor; a stepper motor with encoder feedback. The RCP2 series offer the simplest and least expensive control package. The RCS (ROBO Cylinder Servo) series utilize an AC servo motor, which offers a much wider range of control options. All ROBO Cylinder controllers offer the following basic capabilities:
- Multiple Positioning
- Velocity Control
- Acceleration & Deceleration Control
- Torque Control (Push Function)
- Serial I/O for linking up to 16 axes
All ROBO Cylinder controllers can be operated by either a Teaching Pendant or our PC Interface Software.
RCP2 Controller
The RCP2 Controller is for use with RCP2 type actuators. This combination comprises the most basic and least expensive ROBO Cylinder package.

E-CON Controller
The E-CON Controller is essentially very similar to the RCS-C type controller. The E-CON offers an expanded positioning capability of up to 64 points and CE certified versions.

X-SEL Controller
The X-SEL Controller is a programmable, multi-axis motion controller which may be used to directly control a number of RCS actuators. The X-SEL is generally intended for use with larger actuators from Intelligent Actuator and more complex applications which require advanced, multi-axis interpolated motion. The RCS is often used as a very cost effective additional axis in these systems.
